When you lose your vision, you lose contact with things.
When you lose your hearing, you lose contact with people.

In Canada, hearing loss and tinnitus are quite common among adults, especially men:

  • 60% of Canadians ages 19-79 struggle with hearing health problems
  • 63% of men and 46% of women live with unperceived hearing loss
  • 8% of men and 5% of women self-reported hearing impairment

Why to Get a Hearing Check Up

Did you know that after an individual realizes they may need help with their hearing, the average wait is 7-10 years to pursue the help required? If left unaddressed, your hearing will slowly continue to degrade over time.

This may be shocking, but out of 100 people who need hearing aids, only 30 people actually have them. The social impacts of long-term hearing loss can be absolutely devastating – withdrawing from public life, participating less and less in conversations, and avoiding social situations. While it’s more common among those over the age of 65, hearing loss can affect all ages. Hearing loss can occur as a result of trauma, genetics, illness or prolonged exposure to high levels of noise, among other health-related situations.
